Have you ever listened to the Get-It-Done-Guy’s weekly podcast?
You need to. It’s hysterical.
Oh, and actually practical too. Tips for getting things done. He gets extra points for the clever show name.
But really the reason to listen is to laugh.
Stever (no, that’s not a typo) is both insightful and funny.
Last week he had a great podcast you can listen to here: http://getitdone.quickanddirtytips.com/sticking-to-a-weight-loss-plan.aspx
Usually he doesn’t talk about fitness but this one is about sticking to your diet and fitness plan.
Listen for yourself, but here are my takeaways:
- Get a friend to workout with, but make sure it’s someone whose presence gets you motivated
- Don’t rely on willpower – willpower will always lose if it’s constantly faced with temptation; get the junk out of your house and don’t replace it
- Mobility increases calorie burn and compliance. Just walk more, take the stairs, etc. Simple things add up.
- Absolute rules – I need to clarify Stever here. He says you need absolute rules because absolute rules are easier to follow – you don’t have to think. But as I’ve said, for your eating plan you need to PLAN for fun meals (carbolicious). So as long as you have 1 to 2 meals a week where you know you will eat some junk, then that’s still an absolute rule.
Enjoy!
